Eddie Neitenbach of Medina Buckeye is named DubStat’s wrestler of the week for 12/4/2023 through 12/10/2023
Neitenbach Breaks Out at Ironman
The 175-pound bracket at the Walsh Ironman contained 11 wrestlers ranked in the top-20 nationally, and another 7 named as honorable mention… Eddie Neitenbach was not one of them.
However, Eddie did not let that stop him, in fact he may have used it for motivation, as he had the most impressive string of victories of the weekend on his way to a third-place finish at the toughest high school tournament in the nation.
After winning his first two matches, Eddie was knocked into the consolation bracket by #5-ranked Adam Waters of Faith Christian Academy.
Neitenbach then proceeded to win 6 straight matches – all of them against nationally recognized wrestlers: HM Hudson Rogers (Meridian), #20 Peter Snyder (Blair Academy), #10 Dominic Federici (Wyoming Seminary (PA)), #19 Elijah Penton (Winter Springs), #15 Payton Westphfahl (Liberty), and #2 Tyler Eise (Ponderosa).
Eddie’s remarkable run established him as one of the nation’s best wrestlers in his weight class. Look for him to crack the top-10 in FloWrestling’s next high school rankings.
Eddie Neithebach is a two-time state placer-winner for Medina Buckeye and is the early-season favorite to win the 175-pound state championship in division 2. He is committed to wrestle for the Wyoming Cowboys in college.
Congratulations to Eddie Neitenbach for being named DubStat’s first ever Wrestler of the Week!
